Let's Fly a Kite!
Introducing something completely different in glass. This fabulous bead is one of several kite shaped beads made in honour of National Kite Flying day. While I'm not sure it's an official day in Canada I am a big kite fan so any time I can fly a kite I will, even if it's only a necklace!
This pretty bead was made using violet coloured glass wrapped in a swipe of reactive glass to give the colour a kick. To string this style of bead I used a fine sterling silver cable chain and left a few inches dangling from the bottom to act as a tail of the kite. The end of the chain is finished with a black and a clear crystal. Silver silicone beads keep this glass bead in place on the chain and can be adjusted to whatever length you desire.
The necklace hangs 30" long including the dangles. The bead is 35mm long x 22mm wide x 11mm thick.
