If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to take a plain glass rod and turn it into something magical, here’s your chance.
Lampworking isn’t just my craft, it’s where I feel most at home. There’s something meditative about the rhythm of turning a mandrel in the flame, watching the glass soften, and slowly shaping it into a bead. Each one starts out the same: a glowing gather of molten glass. But from there? The possibilities are endless.
When people see the finished jewelry, they often ask, “How do you even make those beads?” The truth is, the process is equal parts patience and play. I melt, I turn, I coax, and sometimes the glass surprises me. (Not every bead is a keeper, plenty of them land in the “dunker” jar when they don’t go as planned!) But the ones that do make it through… they carry a little spark of joy in their colours and patterns.
💜 Here’s a peek into my world at the torch: Making Dot Beads
That moment when the bead emerges from the flame, still glowing, still alive with heat, never stops feeling magical. And when I finally open the kiln the next day, it’s like unwrapping a gift I gave myself.
Every piece I make is rooted in this process. It’s slow, it’s hands-on, and it’s deeply personal. To me, it’s not just jewelry — it’s wearable art that carries its own little story.
Thanks for coming behind the scenes with me. Next time, I’ll share more about my favourite bead styles (yes, I’m a little dot-obsessed!) and the happy accidents that sometimes lead to the best designs.
✨ Until then — every bead tells a story, and I’m so glad you’re here for mine.
